To establish an Internet identity you need to start with a domain name.


To register a domain name:


1. Open a Web browser (e.g., Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.)


2. Type http://www.networksolutions.com in the address line then press the enter key


3. Type the domain name(s) you would like to register in the Register a Domain Name text box on the upper right hand side, select the check box(es) next to the extensions you want to search for then click on the Go button, OR click on the See all domain name extensions link, type the domain name(s) you would like to register in the text box, select the check box(es) next to the extensions you want to search for then click on the Search button


4. Your domain name(s) will be listed in the Results Of Your Search section as either available or unavailable:


n Domain Name(s) Available


o If you searched on only one domain name, verify that the check box next to it is selected, click on the Continue button then go to Step 5


o If you searched on more than one domain name extension, select the check box next to the domain name(s) you want to register (be sure to clear the check box(es) next to any domain names you don’t want to register), click on the Continue button then go to Step 5


n Domain Name(s) Unavailable – you have several options:


o Type new domain name(s) in the text box at the bottom of the page, click on the Search button and repeat this Step 4


o Similar domain names and available extensions may be listed for you to select from – select the check box next to the domain name(s) you want, then click on the Continue button


o You may be offered an option to make a certified offer or backorder the domain name(s) in the Get More Options For This Domain Name section – review the articles on How To Backorder A Domain Name or Certified Offer Service Overview for additional information.


5. You may be prompted with a Web Hosting offer – if you would like to purchase a Hosting Package with your domain name, click on the Learn More or Add links and buttons under the package(s) that you are interested in and review the article How To Purchase A Web Hosting Package With A New Domain Name otherwise, click on the Continue Without Adding Services button


6. You may also be prompted to add some additional products to your domain name registration order – Using the check box(es) and drop down menu(s) select any additional options and services you want to add to the domain name(s) then click on the Continue button – depending on your selections, you may be taken to a second screen for additional options, when complete, click on the Continue button


7. For the new domain name(s) and any other options / services select the term periods you would like to purchase in the drop down menus (if you change the term from the default, please click on the Recalculate button) then click on the Proceed To Purchase button


n If you are a new customer


a. Under New Customer select the radio button for A Business / Organization account or An Individual account, depending on how you would like to register the new domain name then click on the Create Account button


b. Type your Account Holder (Account Contact) Information and Login Information in the text boxes then click on the Continue button


n If you are a current customer


a. Log in with your user id and password


b. If you have more than one account, select the account where you would like to register the domain name and click on the Continue button


8. Type your credit card information in the text boxes


9. Select the check box I would like my new service(s) to Auto Renew if you would like Network Solutions to automatically renew your services at the end of their term


10. Click on the link to read the Network Solutions Service Agreement and when completed select the check box then click on the Submit Order button

Note It will take approximately 12-36 hours for the domain name information to propagate to servers world-wide. Once that process is complete, your domain name and any of the additional services you purchased will be available to use.
